Star investigated for smoking ban 'breach' at gig

AN INVESTIGATION has begun into whether Rolling Stone Keith Richards broke Scotland's smoking ban during a gig at Hampden Park on Friday.

Glasgow City Council received a report that the guitarist lit up on stage. It comes less than a month after actor Mel Smith was prevented from smoking during a Fringe show.

By allegedly smoking, Keef could have jeapordised his health. The authorities are therefore correct in conducting a very thorough investigation. Whilst doing so they could perhaps check whether or not only the softest of toilet tissue was supplied to the backstage area to ensure that Keef didn't run the risk of a tender a**e!
As to the report received by Glasgow City Council, it should publish the identity of the reporter so that we may all applaud their actions in seeking to protect Keef and an obese, booze-fuelled, drug-crazed general public from this appalling risk to public health.

I was at the Stones concert on Friday and was in a box above the stage. 'Keef' was smoking on stage but then again so was Ronnie Wood and no one seemed to mention this. It was outdoors, as the stage was not under the cover of the stadium, so I don't think any law was broken. I am a nurse (non smoking) and in most hospitals any nurses that smoke have to go outside to avoid breaking the law so 'Keef' should be o.k

#6 LETS VOTE THE LOONY LABOUR OUT.

I don't think it would make much difference as the Health and Safety fundamentalists now have such an insidious grip on society. Their aim is, I suppose, to make Scotland as teeth-grindingly safe and tedious as Sweden. It is therefore encouraging that people like Keef are prepared to offer a two-fingered salute in the direction of the joyless cretins who greatly fear that someone, somewhere may be having fun.
The Italians taks a sound view on such matters - they generally ignore nannyist legislation as a matter of honour.

Yep, it's a shame that Scotland is reduced to this. What a bunch of pansies! Everybody getting excited about a goalkeepr blessing himself and Keef smoking on stage!

Btw, John #3, have you never smoked? And yet you, like us all, will die at some point. Tedious, eh?

Whew, I'm glad that I don't live in the people's republic of Weegie. If it's not overpaid rock stars blowing smoke in your face then it's overpaid goalkeepers making rude gestures at you. What ever happened to good old stabbings and glassings?

The above comment is blasphemy !!!!! ;-)
A few weeks ago, a television crew staggered on to the streets of Weegie armed with 10 x 8 glossy photographs of some of Scotland's most high-profile MSPs. A substantial number could not name little McConnell or several others with ministerial portfolios.
How many, I wonder, would have failed to recognise Keef?
Keef (and his like) offer joy to the masses. Little McConnell & co offer mediocrity to the masses.

political correctness gone mahhhd... :) what a loaod of old bollox this situation has become... it's embarrassing how petty the smoking ban has become, but is s good illustration of our so-called parliament's idea that 'radical is everything'...
