Judge overturns smoking ban

Smokers can light up with impunity again in Pierce County bars
and restaurants, thanks to a Thursday court decision.
Pierce County Superior Court Judge Ronald Culpepper overturned
the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department’s controversial indoor
smoking ban, ruling that it conflicted with state law.
The health department's lawyer pledged to appeal to either the
state Court of Appeals or the state Supreme Court.
